Rules Overview

The Freres d'Armes Napoleonic Miniatures Rules have been developed over a 25 year period and extensively used by the members of the Napoleonic Miniatures Wargame Society of Toronto. It remains a work in progress as new ideas are encouraged and introduced. So be sure to check in with us for future updates.

Originally inspired by a thin rules booklet called "Napoleonic Rules For A Large-Scale Wargame", written by Peter Dennis & Cliff Knight in association with George Jeffrey and published by Hard Cover. Our concept is a somewhat different, but we still utilize many of the basic principles.

Although designed for 6mm figures any scale of figures can be used. Although designed for the Napoleonic period, these rules can be used for any battles where the horse and musket dominated the battlefield.

The rules are simple, fast and designed to reflect the flavor of Napoleonic warfare. They can be used to recreate actions from the smallest skirmishes to the largest battles of the period. These objectives along with a strong desire to have a good time by enjoying a challenging game with our "Freres d'Armes" are the driving engines behind the rules. We have experienced endless hours of enjoyment using these rules and hope you and your friends will be able to as well.

Rules of Engagement

If you cannot agree on a rule, roll off, the high roller is deemed to be right. Use a ten-sided dice (d10) only for all rolls.
